We’ve just finished our biennial All Stoneworks conference, held this year in Odessa, Ukraine. Attending were our friends and partners from Russia, Norway, Estonia, Belarus, Ukraine, Montenegro, Romania and Moldova.
We met at Camp Lela, not too far from the Black Sea coast. Laura Rechkemmer, our Director of Operations, was very involved in building Camp Lela when she lived in Ukraine and she continues to be involved there. Laura did a GREAT job coordinating the conference.
The camp has great facilities and we were all (literally) warmly welcomed: Yura, from the Far North, said that he was roasting hot, and Marijana, from Montenegro, said it felt like springtime!
We had times of worship, sharing and encouragement. One teaching focused on Hebrews 12 and the encouragement that God gives to His people in the midst of hardships.
Our partners face many hardships as they lead ministries in a multitude of difficult situations, and the Lord encouraged us to endure the hardships and not look back. A harvest of righteousness and peace awaits those who persevere and allow difficulties to train them. Jesus himself endured the cross for the joy that was set before him, and we should consider him as we also struggle against destructive forces in this broken, snake-bit world. He promises to help us at every point and lead us through.
Quite a bit of our time was open so that folks could rest, visit with others and be refreshed. There were also trips to the beach, a dolphinarium, some catacombs and the city center. All in all, it was a great time and we’re already looking forward to 2020!
How good and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in unity!
It is like precious oil poured on the head,
running down on the beard,
running down on Aaron’s beard,
down upon the collar of his robes.
It is as if the dew of Hermon
were falling on Mount Zion.
For there the Lord bestows his blessing,
even life forevermore.
