Stoneworks has been happy to partner with Sunbeam over the years. We also share a board member in Mike Cantrell. Mike recently visited Estonia, meeting with the board of Sunbeam and with our partners Dima and Elissa Bahtin.

Sunbeam is a center for children with disabilities in Northeast Estonia that started as the dream of Pastor Artur Pold and has grown into a vibrant center of service that is a light to the community.

This recent exterior insulation project is one of several improvements of the facility. The project was mostly funded by the local administration and has resulted in a 25% savings on heating. The contractor is finishing up a few small things and will be finished soon.

The meeting hall was also recently renovated and is now quite useful for hosting conferences and other meetings. A local church rents the hall on Sundays as well.

Sunbeam is also in the process of renovating the second floor to add over-night housing for children. From time to time it’s better if children can stay in the facility for a short visit, a few nights at most. A local political party is donating funds for the renovation, which will include two apartments, kitchens, an elevator and renovation of bathrooms and a stairwell.

Many thanks to board chairman and pastor Artur Põld for his leadership, and to board member and architect Andres Toome for his great work.
